Last Friday, the first ever London Fashion Week focused on menswear – “London Collections: Men” kicked off and I was fortunate enough to get invited to some shows and presentations (see instagram below) all featuring the designers Spring Summer 2013 collections. And without further ado, here are my personal highlights in pictures (I’ve split this into two parts so look out for the next one)

I’ll kick things off with Topman Design which brought vivid colours (absolutely amazing by the way!) in it’s ‘Tailored East Coast’ meets ‘Skaterboy West Coast’ themed show tinged with a hint of sportswear.

Followed by Martine Rose’s flamboyant collection inspired by Bernini’s sculpture ‘The Rape of Persephone’. I love the mix of muted and bold colours and rigid shapes.

And then Oliver Spencer which was inspired by painter Ben Nicholson and Russian modernism. I absolutely love the colour blocking in this collection!

And then finishing off the day (for me) was YMC influenced by a mix of vintage kimono prints, early 60s West Coast surf culture and late 80s casuals. For me this is casual tailored perfection!

All in all, a brilliant day and I couldn’t imagine a better way to kick start the very first London Men’s Fashion Week. 🙂
