Over the last few posts we have shared with you a range of different road trip destinations that we stopped at. Miami was all about the people watching. Key West was all about the weather and New Orleans was all about the music and having downright fun!
We have missed a few other places between Miami and New Orleans, but expect some future posts on our time at Universal Islands of Adventure in Florida and Tubing along the river with Manatees at Ichetuknee Springs State Park.
Our inspiration to share New Orleans with you today comes from the festival season that is just about to start in the UK and it really made us think about how great the music was in New Orleans. All live, unique and full of character! We were very fortunate to see some amazing musicians in the city and if you are heading to New Orleans do try and head to Preservation Hall. A true New Orleans experience. Preservation Hall is a small intimate venue in a very old house with benches, just off Bourbon Street – the music is sung so personally and you can really feel the passion within their voices. We actually didn’t take any pictures inside. Sorry, but we really wanted to savour the experience and enjoy the moment. Next time we promise we will! 🙂
We loved just chilling out in the city. There is so much to take in, and we were lucky enough to get caught up (or gate-crash) a local wedding ceremony. It was rather unplanned on our part, but truly one of the most beautiful and ecstatic weddings we have ever been a part of! There really was so much celebration and love, which you can hopefully see from the pictures! As soon as the dancing started a tropical rainstorm struck down on the city – which was surprisingly a welcome relief from the humidity and glaring sunshine that we had all day!
We hope you like our pics of the happy wedding party! We just love the true emotion in the wedding parties faces! Everyone was so happy for the couple and it was a beautiful, unforgettable experience for all – including us!
